Racine- Lorraine B. (nee: Zamagne) Applin, 72, passed away at her home, surrounded with the love of her entire family, on Friday, December 8, 2006, following a brief battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. A lifetime resident, Lorraine was born in Racine on April 16, 1934 to John and Mary (nee: Commodore) Zamagne. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1952. On February 12, 1955, Lorraine was united in marriage with Marvin L. Applin. A passionate and very proud homemaker, Lorraine placed her family as priority one in her life. Among her interests, she was an accomplished musician, especially as a violinist and pianist; a talented artist and cartoonist, having published monthly cartoons on Senior Net for many years; and a computer guru, where she was a wealth of info regarding tech support for all her family and friends. Lorraine loved her Lord and would quite often be found reading the Bible. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered! Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Marvin; their three children, Glenn (Alice) Applin, Gina (Richard) Anderson, and Lisa (Tim) Hyland; two grandchildren, Harlan Applin and Jason Applin; her beloved mother, Mary Zamagne; brother, Richard (Patricia) Zamagne; sisters-in-law, Merle (Paul) Speiser and Emily Gagnea; and by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, John Zamagne. Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 11:30 am in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm and on Tuesday from 10:30 – 11:30 am. In memory of Lorraine, memorials to Hospice Alliance have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to entire staffs of Hospice Alliance, Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center-Oncology floor and Dr. Michael P. Mullane for the incredible outpour of end-of-life care and compassionate support that was so warmly extended to Lorraine and to our family. God bless all of you!
