Lynn J. Marchant

Jul 21, 1953 – Jan 11, 2011

Lynn J. Marchant, 57, passed away in the Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, following a long illness. She was born in Racine on July 21, 1953 the daughter of the late William and Doris (nee: Post) Zinke.

Lynn had been employed by Surgitek until her physical disability forced her to retire. She enjoyed playing Bingo, but her greatest enjoyment came from being with her family and friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Tiffany McWhorter; son, Willie J. McWhorter Jr.; grandchildren, Vanessa Zinke, Eric Zinke, Nalah McWhorter, and Naleah Mayfield; sister, Lois (Robert) Rashleger; brothers, Jerry (Janice) Zinke and Robert “Bobby” Zinke, and sister-in-law Lorraine Zinke, all of Racine. She is further survived by her “In Laws” Maggie (Calvin) Caldwell of Ohio, Ruth Foster of Milwaukee, WI, Ronald (Muhminnah) Mahdi of Boston, MA, Kim McWhorter, Debra (Lionel) Perkins, Gail McWhorter, and Rodney (Kerrisha) McWhorter and a very special friend Mary Jane Kraft.  Her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that are very near and dear to her heart but too many to mention by name further survive her. In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her daughters, Dorrie Zinke and Telena McWhorter; her brother William Zinke Jr., and her former husband, Willie J. McWhorter Sr.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 17th, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Willie Scott officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. In keeping with Lynn’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Tiffany to help care for Lynn’s grandchildren.

The family of Lynn would like to extend an extra special thank you to Dr. Mullane, Kelly Konesko N.P., Dr. Taylor, Dr. Dino, Dr. Brown and her entire nursing staff for her amazing care during this difficult illness. She also wanted to send a special thank you to her “guardian angels”, Jerry and Janice Zinke.

Testimonials

March 13, 2025

Thank you so very much for the exemplary care that you provided for both our mom and dad. Your family is extremely kind and exudes much empathy towards others. You and your staff display much professionalism with great talent and attention to detail. Mom and dad were always very particular in their appearance. Mom would say, You are leaving a lasting impression of yourself with someone to remember you by. Your parents taught you boys well; be very proud of that! Love on them, as death is so very permanent.

Holly and I are officially orphans now. It is people like your family and David Huck being there for us, that bring comfort when you are going through one of the most difficult challenges life throws at you.

I thank God every day for our Ostergaard family and will always cherish the memories.

Love you,

Jody Burlingame Wagner
