Cedarburg, WI – Marilyn Joan (nee: Mares) Moore, age 85, formerly of Racine, passed away peacefully at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, WI on Sunday, October 16, 2016.

Marilyn was born in Racine on March 9, 1931 to the late Phillip and Germaine (nee: Beaupre) Mares. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1949” and Dominican College.

Marilyn was united in marriage with George Albert Moore on June 20, 1953 in St. Edward’s Catholic Church.

Passionate about teaching children, Marilyn was employed with Racine Unified School District, mainly at SC Johnson and Starbuck Schools, as a special education educator. She was a lifetime member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church. Among her interests, she enjoyed crafting, reading, camping, spending time at Army Lake, being together with her entire family – especially her grandchildren, and had a sassy sense of humor.

Surviving are her children, Mary Ann (husband, Steven Licata) Moore, Thomas Aquinas (Shawn) Moore, Joseph George (Déadra) Moore and Joan M. (Robert) Roehre; grandchildren, James and John Licata; Tommy, Cody, Megan and Shannon Moore; Andrew Moore, Molly (Payton) Powell, Adam Moore; Peder and Maren Aalgaard; Claire and Catherine Roehre; brothers, Harry (Geri) Mares and Phillip James (Sheryl) Mares; sisters, Nancy Spiegelhoff and Sue (Ron) Herman; sister-in-law, Pat Mares; brother-in-law, Jack (Audrey) Moore; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, George (passed away April 8, 2004); and brothers, Thomas Mares and Richard (Jane) Mares.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 24, 2016, 2016 at 11:00 am in St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. A luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Private interment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Adventure Kids Learning or to Meta House have been suggested.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the compassionate staff of Lasata Care Center for the stellar care and for treating Mom like family during the past four years.

Testimonials

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didn’t stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
