Racine – Marlene June Holbrook, 64, received the promise of eternal life on Friday, March 17, 2017.  She was born in Racine on December 26, 1952, daughter of Kenneth Eugene and Iva Dell (nee: LaRose) Ager.

Marlene was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jesse Willard Holbrook, on June 28, 1980, at Calvary Baptist Church in Sturtevant.

Marlene graduated from J.I. Case High School.  She attended nursing school and then studied accounting at University of Wisconsin – Parkside.  Marlene served as her church’s organist until illness took her hearing. She enjoyed crafting; creating beautiful beaded ornaments and tying blankets for many family members and friends. Marlene was an avid Amazon shopper.  She was always excited when a new package arrived with her new treasures.  Marlene loved spending time at their cabins in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.  She made sure that she and Jess had a beautiful home away from home to spend time with family and friends.  Above all, Marlene cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Marlene was a special caregiver for her niece and nephew, Samantha and Nicholas, when they were young and growing up.  She will be remembered for all the love that she has given to her family.

Marlene leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 36 years, Jess Holbrook; mother, Iva Ager; sister, Mardell (Rob) Fisher; mother-in-law, Ruth McKinney; brothers-in-law, Chuck Wahl, Pastor Bill (Gail) Holbrook, Lee McKinney; sisters-in-law, Anne Ryan, Betty (Ray) Kelm; nieces and nephews including Nicholas Fisher, Samantha Fisher, Cheri (Matt) DuShane, Carolyn (Jason) Taylor, Cathy (Rick) Kelemen, William (Kelly) Holbrook Jr and Cindy (Josh) Thomas; close cousins, Tammy Fredericksen and Kathy Geoghan; best friend, Rhonda Bose; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Marlene is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Ager; sister, Melonie Wahl; brother, William Ager; father-in-law, Carlos McKinney; and brother-in-law, Jerry Ryan.

A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, 6:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Pastor Bill Holbrook officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until the time of the service.
