Julie’s Personal Touch

Rogers, Arkansas – Marlene Katherine Glass, formerly of Racine passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the age of 83. She was born on July 8, 1934, the daughter of George and Katherine (nee: Mand) Hansen. Marlene married Bernard J. Glass on November 27, 1954 in Kenosha’s St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1989. Marlene enjoyed a 37-year career as an executive secretary at Massey-Ferguson retiring in 1993.

Marlene graduated from William Horlick High School class of ’52 with honors. She enjoyed camping, belonging to the Racine Belle City Drifters and volunteering as their recording secretary, and the Wisconsin Campers Association. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose. She was known as Mrs. Bee to the Belle City Communicators CB Club and also did her part as the club’s secretary. Line dancing was her forte with the Kenosha Kickers. They took part in the longest line dance in the world. She liked traveling with friends to faraway places and treasure hunting with Don at the many auctions they attended. She also belonged to the National Slovak Society; and St. Lucy Catholic Church for a number of years.

Marlene is survived by her daughters Theresa (Michael) Gemmel of Raymond, and Patricia Glass of Racine; grandchildren Elizabeth (Carey Wentworth) Gemmel, Katherine Gemmel, Christopher (Kate Brzenk) Pischke, and Jonathan Pischke; 3 greatgrandchildren Hannah, Austin, and Nathan; sister Catherine (Jack) Morris; sisters-in-law Virginia (the late Bill) Ermert, Beatrice (the late Tom) Cronce; her significant other Donald Luedkte and his family, Don Jr., (Kathy), Scott (Debra), and Todd (Debra) Luedkte, Cheryl (Mike) Ryan, and Laura (Charles) Schlitz; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law and their husbands Constance and Peter Sahagian, and Elenor and Ed Mattson.

The family would like to thank the House of Three in Rogers, AR and Marlene’s caregivers Connie, Linda, Kim, and Nurse Melanie for taking such outstanding care of her; and the owners Shane and Jennifer for their continued support. It was definitely a God thing.

The funeral mass for Marlene will be held in St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Avenue) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Visitation in the church will begin at 10:00 a.m. Memorials to the Wisconsin Veterans Home; or the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin have been suggested.

Testimonials

the Victor Morris Family

Can’t thank Gary and you all enough for our fathers funeral arrangements (Victor Joseph Morris) June 18th, 2020.
He would have been SO proud. So many little personal details that we were not even expecting, totally overwhelmed us. From the pamphlets to the thank-you notes and copies of the video, to the beautiful casket picture and arrangement. Pop looked as proud as he was in life. And thanks also to the very cooperative and helpful staff. We thought it would take much longer to knock this all out at our one and only meeting with Gary. We did not want to overlook, or forget to give our heartfelt thanks for such wonderful service at such a horrible time in our lives.
God Bless,
Bob Morris
