Mary Ann Jensen

May 17, 1937 – Aug 16, 2016

RACINE – Mrs. Mary Ann Jensen, 79, passed away at WFH – All Saints on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 surrounded by her family.

A lifelong resident of Racine, she was born on May 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (nee: Bilik) Shimkus.  She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1956.  On April 30, 1966 she married William M. Jensen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  This year she was so proud to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Jensen worked for the telephone company and later as an assistant for students with special needs at Racine Unified.  First and foremost, she considered herself a mom and homemaker for her family.

She enjoyed volunteering with her husband as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus during the RCOC Children’s Christmas Parties, collecting angels and Danish plates; reading, traveling, shopping and being in the company of her family.  She especially loved caring for her granddaughters, whom she adored.

In addition to her loving husband, Bill, she is survived by her daughter, Denise (Nick) Maniscalco; her son, David W. Jensen; her granddaughters, Sydney and Stephanie Johnson; 3 step grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Leonard Jensen all of Racine; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mabel Jensen; numerous brothers and sisters; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, August 22, 2016 for a visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m.  A service celebrating her life will take place at 11:00 a.m.  A procession and interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to RADD (Recreational Activities for the Developmentally Disabled – 3131 Taylor Ave. Racine, WI 53405).

Michael,

First, let me start out by saying you were a God sent working with me for many years in preparations for my mom’s Homegoing Celebration December 7, 2024.  Even though this was our first time meeting in person, I felt like I already knew you.  Michael, you demonstrated  professionalism, empathy and, your warmth was surprising for me considering your role as a Funeral Director. Your attention to every detail, patient and support has made this process much easier for my family and me. I trusted you and you helped me find closure in a moment of great sadness, and for that we’re eternally grateful. I appreciate the time and energy you put into ensuring everything ran smoothly considering I reside in a different state.  Michael, my mom would have loved you and our family is forever grateful for your unwavering dedication and support during our season of grief.  May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. (Numbers 6:25)
