
Racine- On Sunday, December 3, at age 79, Mary E. Green,- a dedicated wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother and proud great-grandmother – was received by God after a four month battle with cancer. She was born in Kenosha on December 24, 1926. Mary retired in 1986 after working for Wisconsin Bell/Ameritech for many years. Mary enjoyed spending quality time with her family and many friends. She was an avid golfer, a skilled bowler, a fun-loving card player and a phenomenal cook. She found joy in her many travels with her husband to Yugoslavia, Spain, Jamaica, Mexico, California, Maine, Florida, and especially Las Vegas. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Arlington “Stretch” Green; her son, Jeff (Michele) of Eagle River; and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Randy Vorwalske of Waukesha. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Michelle Green, Gretchen (Jeff) Wright, Michael (Jeanette) Thomas, Cheri (Eric) Johnson; great-grandchildren Andrew Waugh, Evan Thomas, Tyler Wright, Samantha Johnson, and a little Wright on the way. She is also survived by other close relatives whom she loved so much: her sister Pat (the late Tom) Rasmussen, brother-in-law Len (Nini) Green, sister-in-law Pat (Jim) Thompson, and many nephews and nieces. Also, her special friends, Jan and Buck Jenkins, and former daughter-in-law, Judy and Bob Webb. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Fleda Frederick Simonsen and Ted Frederick, step-father Morris Simonsen, infant sisters Barbara and Theodora, mother-in-law and father-in-law Rose and Arlington Green, sister-in-law Beatrice Green Dunlap, brother-in-law Tom Rasmussen, and nephew Peter Thompson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Catholic memorial service immediately following at 3:00 pm in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home ,4600 County Line Road. Private interment will be held in West Lawn Memorial Park. In memory of Mary, memorials to the Salvation Army have been suggested. Mary’s family extends their sincere thanks to Karla Boho N.P., Dr. Robert Gullberg, the staff of LindenGrove in Waukesha, and Seasons Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. And much gratitude to Mary and Stretch’s wonderful neighbors Dan and Sue Cabush and Kathy and Brian Schueppler for their unselfish help and support the past few years.
