Mary Violet Holly

Apr 15, 1910 – Mar 7, 2006

Mary V. Holly found peace March 7, 2006 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Michael L. Holly.Dear mother of Robert (the late Irene) Holly, of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Cliff (Lisa) Holly, of Kingman, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John (Adele) Smolko, of Racine, WI. Mary was born in 1910 in Taylor Springs, Ill. to John and Mary Smolko.

She loved to tell stories to her grandchildren about growing up a “coal miner’s daughter.” Her family later settled in Racine, WI where Mary attended Morris Secretarial School before working and worked for the county home. During World War II Mary worked as an assembler at Moeller Manufacturing and Dumore of Racine. She married Michael Holly in 1929. In addition to her sons, Mary is further survived by her grandchildren, Jeff (Kyle) Holly, Sharon (Curt) Chybowski, Lori Holly, and Rich (Michele) Holly, all of Wisconsin; Michael Holly, Julie Holly, and Debbie (Daryl) Cotton, all of California, and David (Susan) Holly, of Missouri. Mary is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.

Services will be held Monday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorials in Mary’s name to the Schmidt Home, 10441 S. Nicholson Road, Oak Creek, WI 53154 appreciated.

Special thanks to Sandy, Judy, Karen, Tammy, and Jodi, and all the aides, nurses and social workers who worked with Mary and the family during her years in the Lincoln Lutheran care system. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Schmidt Home in Oak Creek.
