
Maxine Morones, 86, died on Friday, September 8, 2006, in Ridgewood Care Center, with her family at her side. She was born in Saltillo, Mexico, on December 11, 1919, the daughter of the late Demencio and Francesca (nee: Calsoncit) Escamilla. Mrs. Morones earned her American citizenship on December 12, 1984. She had been employed by St. Luke’s Hospital until her retirement in 1982. She was a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and casinos. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Ricardo (Mary) Morones Jr., Reynaldo Morones, Belinda Morones all of Racine, Rosa (Samuel) Mendez of Bandera, TX, and Erlinda Ruiz of North Park, IL; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, her great great grandson; 3 brothers Julian Escamilla of Fort Worth, TX, Pedro Escamilla of Big Wells, TX, Alberto ( Lilia) Escamilla of Piersall, TX. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ricardo Morones Sr., and her son Raymundo Morones. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Cristo Rey Parish, 8th Street and College Ave., at 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 13th, with Rev. Roberto McGlinn officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and in the church on Wednesday, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to the Cristo Rey Parish, Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Center, or your favorite charity. The family would like to thank her grandson Joel Varrientes, for the time and care he spent with his grandmother this summer; the primary care physicians and staffs at the Cancer Center. A very special thank you to the entire staff at Ridgewood Care Center, for the wonderful care and attention they gave Mrs. Morones and her family.
