~~ Michael A. Philopulous, 43, passed away at his residence, unexpectedly, of natural causes, Wednesday, January 1, 2014. He was born in Racine on January 22, 1970, the son of Robert and Carol (nee: Unger) Philopulous.
Mike was a 1988 graduate of Washington Park High School. He attended UW-Parkside and then studied electrical engineering at UW-Madison. Mike was helpful, overly generous and extremely smart. He was a master chess player, often competing on line. He was an accomplished pianist and guitarist. Mike could solve Rubix’s Cube in less than 30 seconds. He enjoyed learning, trivia, Jeopardy, Starbuck’s triple venti mochas, cooking, baking, and dining out with family and friends. Mike started Domain Host International, in Chicago, which he and his father, Robert, operated from 1996 until Mike sold the business in 2004.
Mike will be deeply missed by his parents, Robert L. Philopulous, Carol (Dennis) Stobbe; sister, Leslie (Peter) Jensen; brother, Robert C. Philopulous, niece, Kirsten Andersen; nephew, Jakob Jensen; step-sisters, Anya and Mosha Baranova; and his grandfather, Arthur Philopulous.; his beloved cats, Asia and Lou, and a host of friends. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Priscilla Deavers, Grace and Frank Unger, uncle and aunt, Frank and Linda Unger, and his cousin, Tina Christman.
His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 7th; at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:00 until the time of the service.
