
Kenosha – Michael R. Massie, age 51, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013. Mike was born in Milwaukee on September 20, 1961. A 1980 graduate of Arrowhead High School in Hartland, he went on to graduate from UW-Milwaukee with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago with a Masters in Business Administration.
On July 22, 1989 in St. Robert’s Catholic Church – Shorewood, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Maria Angelica (nee: Caringal) of whom was his college sweetheart.
For the past 19 years, Mike was the Director of Engineering at Yaskawa in Waukegan. Among his interests, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and was an extreme boating enthusiast. Mike had a great appreciation for nature and was often seen gathering up polluted items left by others. Above all, Mike was a devoted husband & father – who loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his loving wife, Maria; their children, Heather Massie (age 25) and Sean Massie (age 19); mother and step-father, Rose and Ronald Meyers; father, Richard “Dick” Massie; brother, Dennis (Debbie) Massie; Maria’s parents, Reynaldo and Gloria Caringal; sisters-in-law, Yasmin (Gary) Anger, Liz (Bernie) Crisostomo and Flora (Craig) Kotlarek; longtime devoted friends, Jack & Emily Nehmer, Loree & Aaron Raap, Carla & Mike Hart, Bill and Kim Schick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his brother, John Massie.
Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 7:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 7 pm. Private interment will take place.

I knew Mike in college at UW-Milwaukee. He was a genuinely good guy. And, he was one of the very few people with him I could get in an intellectual conversation, whether it was Philosophy, Politics, or Science. My condolences and prayers to his family.
