MOUNT PLEASANT – Mrs. Mildred I. Carleton, 97, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

She was born in Racine on May 16, 1927, the daughter of the late Axel and Julia (nee Christensen) Andersen.  She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1945.

Mildred married Alvin Carleton on May 14, 1960. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2005.  Prior to her marriage and raising her children, she worked at Western Publishing and Massey-Harris.

She was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and enjoyed swimming, bowling, and golfing.  However, she was happiest in the company of her entire family.

Mildred is survived by her children, John (Sandy) Carleton, Sue Freeze, Jim (Cindy) Carleton all of Racine, Dave (Elizabeth) Carleton, of Waukesha, and Bruce (Rita) Carleton of Racine; as well as many dear grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Per Mildred’s wishes, a small private service will take place at Mound Cemetery.  Memorials have been suggested to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.

The Carleton family extends a sincere thank you to the entire staff at Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant and Aurora at Home Hospice for the loving and professional attention Mildred received while under their care.
