Nellie J. Recupero

Oct 29, 1919 – Mar 8, 2006

NELLIE J. RECUPERO Racine- Nellie J. Recupero, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 following a brief battle with cancer. A lifetime resident, Nellie was born in Racine on October 29, 1919 to the late Nicholas and Mary (nee: Palatino) Recupero. She was employed by Interlake Steel for over 45 years retiring in 1987. Nellie was a dedicated member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Among many of her hobbies, she enjoyed needlework, playing the organ, and was passionate for trying her luck at bingo. A truly remarkable woman, there was nothing that Nellie couldn’t or wouldn’t do. She was a devoted caretaker who was always first in line to lend a helping hand. Above all, she was a tireless and selfless daughter, sister and aunt who placed her entire family as top priority in her life. We’ll miss you Nellie! Surviving are her dear sisters, Lena Nuciforo, Josephine Quadraccia, and Rose Kujellis; beloved sister-in-law, Shirley Recupero, all of Racine; and by many cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Recupero; sisters, Angeline and Ann Recupero; and brothers-in-law, Frank Quadraccia and Henry Kujellis. Special thanks to Nellie’s devoted niece, Marilee Namowicz, for the tremendous amount of love and devotion given to her Aunt during her time of need. You certainly enhanced Nellie’s life and brought many smiles to her face during her illness. God bless you Marilee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 13, 2006 at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:30 – 11 am. In memory of Nellie, memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church has been suggested.
