OTTO M. PERMAN Racine- Otto Matthew Perman, 84, was lifted Home peacefully by the angels on Sunday, July 16, 2006 from All Saints-St. Mary’s Medical Center. He faced a tough road of illnesses over the last eight months with determination and a precious smile on his face. Otto was born in Wishek, N.D. on December 10, 1921 to the late Gustave and Lydia (nee: Boschee) Perman. After moving to Chicago, the family came to the Somers / Racine area in 1932 when he became a permanent resident. Otto faithfully served our Country with the United States Army in WWII from 1941-1944. On February 19, 1949 in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Grace M. Braun. Following, he went to work for Eisendrath Tannery for 19 years. However, Otto then was fondly employed at Spee-Dee Packaging Machinery Inc., from where he retired on May 27, 1999 after 32 years of service. Otto was a longtime member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the Mt. Pleasant Schafskopf Club. Among his interests, he enjoyed bowling three nights a week; was an avid fisherman; Sunday rides with his family; going out to eat; his daily trips to Spee-Dee to visit with his buddies; and never, never missed any of his granddaughters’ sporting events. Otto will be especially remembered for his loving gentleness, positive attitude, sense of humor, and for his famous saying, “I may be short, but I’m sure good rookin”. May he rest in peace! Otto is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Grace; daughters, Judith (Peter) Stockton of Cedarburg and Susan (Lyle) Tryba of Racine; grandson, Jason Smith of Madison; granddaughters, Ashley and Allison Tryba; sisters, Adeline Garner and Evelyn (Bernie) Loughan; brother, Raymond (Delores) Perman; sister-in-laws, Katherine Perman and Gertrude Greene; brother-in-law, John (Meme) Braun, all of Racine; and by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Otto was preceded in death by his brothers, August and Gottlieb Perman; sister-in-law, Onnie Gifford; and by brothers-in-law, Emmette Greene and Tony Garner. In accordance to Otto’s wishes, cremation will take place. Memorial services will be celebrated in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 7:00 pm with Rev. James Kendzierski, OFM officiating. There will be time to visit with the family on Friday from 5-7 pm. Private entombment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date. In memory of Otto, memorials to the Arc of Racine or to St. Sebastian’s Parish have been suggested. A special note of thanks to all of our wonderful friends, especially to Sue’s faithful friend, Jill, for the compassionate support and helping-hands that were so willingly extended during Otto’s illness. God bless all of you!
