
Patricia E. Rothering, 83 passed away, in the Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on, Sunday, July 29, 2012. She was born in Racine on May 31, 1929, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (nee: Treml) Jansen.
She was a 1947 graduate of Washington Park High School. On September 13, 1952, in St. Mary’s Church, she was united in marriage to Leo A. Rothering who preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Rothering had been employed in the insurance department of J.I. Case Co. for over 20 years. She was a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Mrs. Rothering was a member of several card clubs with her friends. For many years she was a member of the Washington Park Golf League. She was also was an avid reader and bowler. Mrs. Rothering was a positive role model for her family. She especially treasured the time she spent with her family; and took an active role with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Bill (Candy) Rothering, of Racine, Larry (Sue) Rothering, of Franklin; grandchildren, Mike Rothering, Paul (Christine) Rothering, Sam Rothering, Tabatha (George) Cruz, Crystal Shaw, Derek Shaw, and Ashley Hubrich; sister, Alice Jansen, of Racine; sister-in-law, Hope Jansen, of Milwaukee; bother-in-law, Don (Sandy) Rothering, of Racine, and sister-in-law Nancy Rothering. Her nieces, nephews other relatives and friends also survive her. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Jansen Jr., brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Leroy and Dorothy Rothering, Richard Rothering, and niece Joanne Rothering.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave. on Friday, August 3rd, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and in the church on Friday from 9:30a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial to either St. Lucy Church or St. Lucy School.
