RACINE – Patrick E. Hurley, 60, passed away unexpectedly while at work on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
He was born in Milwaukee on May 11, 1957, the son of the late Delbert and Bernice (nee: Kazmierski) Hurley. Pat graduated from Pulaski High (Milwaukee) and later received degrees from UW Milwaukee and UW Parkside.
Pat started his Information Technology career at American Motors-Parts Division. He later returned to UW Parkside as a Senior Systems Programmer and later an I.T. project manager. It was a career and “Home” that he enjoyed dearly for the past 30 years. Pat thought of his time spent at UWP as a chance to give back to the university that started his career. Parkside was his extended family.
Pat enjoyed trains, vintage video games, and loved animals, especially his cat Taz. The greatest love in his life was his longtime companion, Dawn Zimny, who passed away six months ago. She was truly missed by Patrick.
He is survived by his sister and brothers, Kathleen Hurley of Milwaukee, Jim (spouse Michele) Hurley of West Des Moines, IA, David (spouse Deeann) Hurley of Colgate, WI; his niece, Abigail Hurley; his cousins, Barbara Hamm of Garland, TX and Monica Patelski of Milwaukee; as well as many dear friends and co-workers. He will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Hurley.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, October 5, 2017 for a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. There will be an informal service following the visitation at 5:00 p.m. where people will be given an opportunity to speak and share a memory of Pat. His interment will take place at St. Adalbert Cemetery (3801 S. 6th St Milwaukee) on Friday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Pat’s memory to H.O.P.E. Safehouse (http://www.hopesafehouse.org) Help for Orphaned Pets through Education in Racine, WI.
