Mount Pleasant, WI – Patrick “Pat” H. Conley, a man loved for his kindness, generosity, and playful sarcasm, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Pat, age 74, was born in Eau Claire, WI on March 15, 1949 to the late Marcella (nee: Bahr) Conley and Robert Conley. The family came to Racine when Pat was 13 years old. He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1967. Pat faithfully served our country as a SP5 with the US Army in the Vietnam War.

On September 6, 2003 at DeKoven Chapel, Pat was united in marriage with LuAnn (nee: Terry). Pat built a successful career as a valve engineer and retired from Alfa Laval in 2011.

Pat proudly served as Rally Director for the Racine Area Soap Box Derby for several years, and he and his daughter Amanda built Soap Box Derby cars together that they enjoyed racing all over the country. Pat was a lifelong racing fan, with a particular penchant for NASCAR. He was also an avid bowler and golfer for many years, and a member of the Racine Optimist Club.

Pat was a dedicated camping, boating, and fishing enthusiast. He and his wife LuAnn enjoyed camping cross country in their fifth wheel touring national parks and monuments. He also loved spending time at their mobile home at Evergreen Campsites and Resort in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, and is remembered fondly by family as a top-notch pontoon boat captain and fishing instructor. Above all, Pat leaves behind a legacy as a caring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Pat belonged to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Surviving are his loving wife, LuAnn; daughters, Amanda (Missy Wright) Conley, Gaya (Andy Sonnichsen) Glassen, Brianna (Keith) Johnson and Marisa Lock; grandchildren, Jaden, Mikenna (Em Wallander) and Ryannah Glassen; Darien and Piercen Pulliam; Camron (Reeham), Ethan (Audrey Daigneault) and Kolden (Jaellah Jones) Johnson; sisters, Joan Schrader-Rosenquist and Joyce (Earl) Anderson; brother, Mike (Mary) Conley; sisters-in-law, Michele (Paul) Schmidt, Jeanne Pelz and Neal Pelz, and Rhonda (Thomas) Kramer; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James Glassen; brothers-in-law, Allen Sandberg and Charles Rosenquist; LuAnn’s parents, Wally & Marge Terry; and brother and sister-in-law Edward and Barbara Terry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring Street) with Fr. Thomas Vathappallil, MCBS officiating. A heartfelt note of thanks to the wonderful nursing staff at the Grace Clinic Froedtert Hospital – Drexel Campus for the compassionate care and support given in Pat’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

We are so sorry for your loss. We have many fond memories of soap box derby races with Pat and Amanda. They were a couple of the first people that we met when Alicia started racing. Pat had a quick wit and great sense of humor and Amanda took Alicia under her wing. We always looked forward to seeing them at the races.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Testimonials

December 1, 2023

My siblings and I recently had the unfortunate experience of having to plan a funeral for our beloved mother – Juana Munoz. During this difficult time, we were fortunate enough to come across a funeral home that truly went above and beyond what was expected. Their attention to detail and dedication to ensuring our comfort and safety throughout the entire process was truly remarkable. From the moment we stepped foot into the funeral home, we were greeted with warmth and compassion. The staff members, but specifically Mark was incredibly understanding and empathetic, making us feel at ease during such a challenging time. Mark took the time to listen to our needs and wishes, and his guidance and support were invaluable. One aspect that truly stood out was Mark’s meticulous attention to detail. He paid close attention to every aspect of the funeral arrangements, ensuring that nothing was overlooked. From the floral arrangements to the music selection, every detail was carefully considered and executed flawlessly. Mark even noticed that the temperature in the room was getting warm and promptly adjusted it to ensure our comfort. What impressed me the most was their commitment to our safety. Mark and his team took every precaution to ensure that our family and guests were protected throughout the entire process. From the funeral home to the cemetery, Mark made sure that all safety measures were in place, including providing hand sanitizers, and even arranging for additional staff members to assist with crowd control. Furthermore, Mark’s professionalism and organization was evident in every aspect of the funeral service. He coordinated seamlessly with the cemetery staff, ensuring a smooth transition from the funeral home to the final resting place. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly made a difference in our overall experience. In addition to their exceptional service, the funeral home also provided us with resources and support beyond the funeral itself. They offered grief counseling services and connected us with local support groups, which proved to be invaluable during our grieving process. Overall, we cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional service provided by Mark, and broader, Draeger Langendorf team. Their attention to detail, commitment to our safety, and genuine compassion made a difficult time a little more bearable. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of funeral arrangements, as they truly go above and beyond to ensure that every detail is taken care of and that families are supported throughout . the entire process. – Epifanio and The Munoz Family
