Jul 29, 1914 – Oct 2, 2008

Racine- Peter Petersen Brown, Jr., 94, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Thursday, October 2, 2008. A lifetime resident, Peter was born in Racine on July 29, 1914 to the late Peter and Anna (nee: Nielsen) Brown, Sr. He was in the first graduating class of newly completed Washington Park High School in 1931. Peter was hired by the United States Government during WWII as a procurement auditor in Ohio and Pennsylvania. After the War, he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, graduating magna cum laude with the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting. On June 15, 1945 at the Zion United Methodist Church in Luckey, Ohio, Peter was united in marriage with the love of his life, Margaret Jane Christen. For many years, he was employed as an accountant by Modine Mfg., until his retirement in 1979. Passionate about his career, Peter shared his knowledge with those seeking their business degrees, by teaching accounting / bookkeeping classes at Gateway Technical College, even well into his senior years. Peter was a longtime member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Among his interests, he enjoyed following the Stock Market. Peter had an extensive record collection and was forever looking to upgrade his stereo equipment. Above all, Peter loved being at home in the surroundings of his entire family. Surviving are his loving wife of over 63 years, Margaret; their sons, Lawrence (Joan) Brown of Yorkville and David L. Brown of Racine; grandsons, Steven and Kevin Brown; and by a sister, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. Funeral services will be held in Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Ave., at 11 am on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 pm and in the church on Tuesday from 10-11 am. In memory of Peter, memorials to Atonement Lutheran Church have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to WFH-All Saints Medical Center and Hospice for the compassionate care and support that was so gently extended during the past few weeks. Your kindness will always be remembered.

Testimonials

Comfort, blessed and confident

I can’t say enough good things about Michael and his staff. They go above and beyond what is required of a funeral home. He has always met my desires and goes beyond what I ask. He always makes it a little more special. He has blessed me and my family many times and comforted us when we are aching because of our loss. I am always confident that he will do his very best, and he always has.
Thank you Michael and staff. May you all have a Blessed Christmas season and New Year
