Caledonia – Phillip J. Burmeister, age 65, and his beloved wife, Nadine Burmeister, age 62; passed away together as the result of their motorcycle vs. automobile accident in Yorkville on Friday afternoon, May 25, 2018. Always together, they were doing what they enjoyed most – taking a ride on their Harley-Davidson on a beautiful sunny afternoon on their way out to Burlington’s Chocolate Fest.

As lifetime residents, Phillip was born in Racine on October 6, 1952 to the late Glenn and Evelyn (nee: Rosendall) Burmeister and Nadine was born on October 7, 1955 to the late Clifford and Maxine (nee: Pranke) Thordson.  Phillip graduated from Washington Park High School in in 1969 and Nadine graduated from JI Case High School in 1973. They were united in marriage on October 6, 1984.

Phil was employed as a lead machinist at Styberg Engineering for over 43 years – retiring in 2015. Nadine was currently employed by Rexnord for the past seven years as an export coordinator. Previously, she worked for  Bosch for 33 years.

Phil and Nadine are members of Racine County Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) Chapter #4095 and of Fifth Street Yacht Club. Among their interests, they enjoyed participating in local & out-of-state car shows, swap meets, cruising their hot rods and Harley, socializing with their extensive circle of friends, and stopping in at The Bunker in Waterford. Above all, they loved spending time together – especially when with their adored daughter, Caitlyn.

Surviving is their loving daughter, Caitlyn (fiancé, Ryan Neu) Burmeister; Nadine’s brothers, Bruce, Alan & Nordman Thordson; Phil’s brothers, Robert, Greg (Amy) & Deacon Danny (Annette) Burmeister; sisters-in-law, Helene and Karen Burmeister; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends – too numerous to mention all by name. In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by Phil’s brothers, Dale and Gene Burmeister.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Phil & Nadine’s wonderful life together will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 12:00 noon with Deacon Dan Burmeister officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon. Private burial will take place at a later date. A special note of thanks to the first responders and bystanders for the care and comfort given to my Mom & Dad at the scene of the accident…..and to all our family & friends for the outpouring of love and support given to us at this most difficult time. Love, Caitlyn & Ryan

    Caitlyn,
So very sorry about your Mom and Dads tragic accident. Nadine and I worked together at Bosch for thirty years. We would see your Mom and Dad at car shows. Your Mom always did a great job putting together our 15+ banquets. Again we are just so sorry.

So sorry for your loss . I worked with your Mom for 25yrs at Bosch. She was a great person to know and work with. Sorry I couldn’t get to see your family as recent surgery prohibits travel at this time. Sending prayers, love, hugs and kisses.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Phil was a good friend of my brother Rick’s until he passed in 1995. Every time I would see Phil he would always stop with a hug and a smile to chat and reminisce. I’m sure him and my brother are kicking back now chatting and sharing the memories. I’ll miss running into him.Rest in Peace Phil and Nadine you will both be missed.

Testimonials

February 20, 2019

Mike and his team did a fabulous job with the memorial service for our Mom. It was perfect and he made the process easy for me to go through during such a difficult time. She had chosen the funeral home before hand, and she made the right choice. The service was beautiful, simple, and sweet. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
