Mt. Pleasant – Phillip John Sorensen, 89, passed away peacefully in the surroundings of his home and family on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Phillip was born in Racine on January 15, 1927, son of the late George and Frances (nee: Olson) Sorensen. He was a proud Marine, having served with the 6^th Marine Division during WWII.

When Phillip was a young man he was married to Geraldine Wallet and then moved to California. While there they had one son, Jeffery. Phillip worked at Safeway Foods driving semi-trucks for 35 years. In 1984, Phillip was married to Victoria (nee: Mullis) Bahr. In 2005 they moved to Omaha, Arkansas, and then resettled here in Racine in 2014.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Victoria Sorensen; son Jeffery Sorensen of San Diego; step-children Cheryl (Bahr) Ricchio, Jeff Bahr, and Dan Bahr; nieces Carolyn Farley, Marcia Lewis, Dawn (Don) Sauser; nephew Greg (Kathy) Sorensen; sisters-in-law Pat (Don) Freymuth, and Lynn Mullis, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister Elaine Boyer; brothers Joe Sorensen and Paul Sorensen; father-in-law and mother-in-law Martin and Geneva Mullis; sisters-in-law Peggy Mullis, Martina Kieliszewski; and brother-in-law Marty Mullis.

Final committal services and military honors will be held in the chapel at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016.

A “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held on Sunday, September 11, 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Infusion’s Banquet Hall, 3201 Rapids Drive, Racine, WI.

My siblings and I recently had the unfortunate experience of having to plan a funeral for our beloved mother – Juana Munoz. From the floral arrangements to the music selection, every detail was carefully considered and executed flawlessly. Mark even noticed that the temperature in the room was getting warm and promptly adjusted it to ensure our comfort. What impressed me the most was their commitment to our safety. Mark and his team took every precaution to ensure that our family and guests were protected throughout the entire process. From the funeral home to the cemetery, Mark made sure that all safety measures were in place, including providing hand sanitizers, and even arranging for additional staff members to assist with crowd control. Furthermore, Mark’s professionalism and organization was evident in every aspect of the funeral service. He coordinated seamlessly with the cemetery staff, ensuring a smooth transition from the funeral home to the final resting place. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly made a difference in our overall experience. In addition to their exceptional service, the funeral home also provided us with resources and support beyond the funeral itself. They offered grief counseling services and connected us with local support groups, which proved to be invaluable during our grieving process. Overall, we cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional service provided by Mark, and broader, Draeger Langendorf team. Their attention to detail, commitment to our safety, and genuine compassion made a difficult time a little more bearable.
