Phyllis A. Anderson, 88, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family, on Friday, September 29, 2017. She was born in Kenosha, WI on September 14, 1929 the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (nee: Schill) McCue. Phyllis was educated at St. George School, Washington Jr. High, and graduated from Mary D. Bradford Class of 1947. On December 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to J. Jay Anderson, who preceded her in death on December 29, 2005. Phyllis had been employed by Coopers (Jockey) from 1947-1951 and American Brass from 1951-1954. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Kenosha and was active in the Kenosha Twins Club. She moved with the family to Racine in 1970 where she became a member of Holy Name Church, now St. Richard Parish. She started a support group for mothers of Down’s Syndrome children and was active in The ARC of Racine. She was an avid bowler until her 80th year and belonged to several leagues including, Coopers Office Girls League, the Tuesday Morning Castle Court League, and the Surf Bowl Thursday Morning Women’s League. Despite her dainty and delicate approach she could deliver some impressive scores.
Phyllis was a dignified lady with a quiet passion for life, her family and nature. She excelled at creating a warm and welcoming home. She was a terrific baker. The jar was always filled with cookies. Her cinnamon sticky buns and chocolate brownies were a staple in her house.
She enjoyed a glass of red wine with the nightly news and had an all-consuming chocolate sweet tooth. Phyllis liked dancing to Big Band music and was known to roll up the living room rugs and dance with her husband to the Glen Miller Orchestra or Bert Kaempfert. She was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing the latest books. And she loved chocolate. Once her children were raised, she enjoyed trips to the Caribbean with Jay, road trips with her friends, day trips with her daughters and visiting her son in California, especially during the 1992 earthquake. She loved entertaining her grandchildren with pool parties, frequent sleepovers, and late night ice cream sundaes. And her favorite candy was chocolate. Her yard was a haven for all sorts of wildlife who were well fed and provided hours of enjoyment for her. She was often joined at the kitchen table by visiting family and friends to watch the antics of the squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, birds and the occasional stray cat. Was it mentioned that she loved chocolate?
Phyllis will be greatly missed by her children, Karen (Jim) Zickus, of Racine, Dennis Anderson, of Pomona, CA, Doug (Peggy) Anderson, of Racine, Donna (Bob) Padilla, of Janesville, WI; ten grandchildren, Adam (Anne) Zickus, Laura (Steven) Bardouche, Brenda (Todd) Reddinger,

A special “thank you” to Tsetsegmaa “Anna” Luvsangombo, her daily caregiver and companion who provided the best of care to ensure that Mom could remain in her own home, and Joan Mattice who supported Mom in her transition from occasional care to live-in arrangement and, ultimately, became a good friend. Thanks also to Dr. Katarzyna Zorns and Nathalie King, PA-C who cared for Mom with diligence, compassion and empathy for the past 5 years.
