Racine – Ralph Charles Born, Sr.; age 83, passed away peacefully at the Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.
A lifetime resident, he was born in Racine on October 12, 1933 to the late Earl and Mildred (nee: Hanson) Born. A graduate of Washington Park High School, Ralph proudly served our country with the United States Marine Corps in Japan and Korea. On July 16, 1955 in Kenosha, he was united in marriage with Kathleen Alice (nee: Kriofsky).
Ralph and Kathy enjoyed working at Twin Disc for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Twin Disc 20 Year Club. Among his interests, Ralph was an avid bowler, golfer, gardener, fisherman, airplane & ship model builder, and was great at finding that “after Christmas” bargain. Above all, he loved and cherished spending time with his entire family.
Surviving are his children, Ralph (Kathy) Born, Jr. of El Paso, TX; Jackie (Brian) Haley and Lori (Jerry) Moran, both of Racine; grandchildren, Adam (Anna), Danny (Jenna) and Jared (Angela) Born; Jennifer and Shawn Haley; Carly Robbins and Carie (Bryann Christensen) Robbins; David (Paula), Gary (Sarah), Melissa and Kelley Moran; great-grandchildren, Amaya Robbins, Jenna Christensen; Kevin, Ashley and Taylor Moran; Chloe and Lyla Born; Gianna Born and Amber Cedillo; and Aria Born; brothers, Earl (Judith) and John (Cindy) Born; sister-in-law, Judy (Larry) Neuling; brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Robert (Jean) Kriofsky; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mildred (nee: Hanson), sister Mary Alyce; and wife Kathy; Kathy’s parents, Charles and Ruth (nee: Meyer) Kriofsky; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Russo and Carol Henthorn.
A memorial service, celebrating Ralph’s life, will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 6:00 pm. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Private entombment, with military honors, will take place on Tuesday in West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
A special note of thanks to Ralph’s daughter, Lori for managing his care and granddaughter Carrie during his final days; nurses Kim & Ingrid of Home Instead; and to the entire staff at Oak Ridge Care Center for the compassionate care and support given to Ralph in his time of need.
