Ray Donald Lashley

Sep 8, 1955 – Dec 19, 2008

Racine- Ray Donald Lashley, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 19, 2008. A lifetime resident, Ray was born in Racine on September 8, 1955 to Donald and Mildred (nee: Lunow) Lashley. He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1974. On April 6, 1979, he was united in marriage with Kathryn Alison Walker. With a profound work ethic, Ray began at the young age of 12, working for his family’s business, Lashley Tree Service, which was established nearly 55 years ago. When his father retired, Ray took over the business as owner / operator. Ray was a kind and loving gentleman who was always willing to help someone in need. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, camping, and spending time at the cabin in Ferryville, WI. Above all, Ray loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family. Surviving are his loving wife, Kathy; son, Clint (Nikki Binon) Lashley; daughter, Meghan Lashley; grandchildren, James, Cody, Victoria, Emma and Abagail; mom and dad, Millie and Don Lashley; brothers, Rodney (Deb) Lashley, Dale (Amy) Lashley, Allen (Brenda) Lashley and Phillip (Mary) Lashley; mother-in-law, Janet Walker; father-in-law, F.J. (Gail) Walker; brother-in-law, James Walker; sister-in-law, Patti Gall; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including his feline friend, Beef. Ray was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Walker; and his canine companion, Jack. Funeral services will be held in Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave. – Sturtevant, on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 10:30 am with Rev. Jeffrey Mortenson officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave., on Monday from 5-7 pm and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 am. In memory of Ray, memorials to his family has been suggested. A special note of thanks to Mt. Pleasant Rescue and Police; and to the staff of All Saints E.R. for doing everything in their powers in trying to save our beloved Ray. God bless all of you!

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
