Ricky O. Burnette

Ricky O. Burnette, 51, was called home by his Savior on Monday, October 9,2006, after a battle with Cancer. He was born in Racine on January 7, 1955, the son of the late Moses and Benniel (nee: Jackson) Burnette. Ricky attended the Whitewater University and was a member of Omega Si Phi. He had been employed by Super Value for over 18years. He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Ricky was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed football, basketball, track, basketball and wrestling. He enjoyed making home movies and was extremely talented when it came to home improvements. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 30 years, the former Wanda Wilhart; their children, Justin L. Burnette, Alicia B. Burnette; his grandchildren Tarail D. King, Marc Lovelle Burnette, Matthew O’Neil Burnette, all of Racine; 2 sisters Brazilian (Alfonzo) Thurman of Milwaukee, Linda (Thomas) Spight of Prentice, MS; his brother Jeffrey Burnette of Racine; nieces and nephews, Alfonzo “Ali” (Etosha) Thurman II, of Atlanta, GA, Kasant Wilkerson of Racine, Nicole Wilhart of Milwaukee. His cousins, other relatives and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Lovelle Burnette, and by his nephew Douglas Owens. His Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1120 Grand Ave., on Friday, October 13th, with Bishop L.L. Kirby officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with the family hour from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and in the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to the Froedtert Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I remember meeting Ricky at a work Christmas party in Dec. 2002. He was so nice and so funny. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
