Mount Pleasant – Robert “Bob” Lee Blodgett, age 84, found peace, surrounded with the love of his family, on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Ascension All Saints Hospital.

Bob was born in Racine on October 10, 1935 to the late Howard and Helen (nee: Rusczcyk) Blodgett. He was a 1954 graduate of Washington Park High School. On October 20, 1956 in St. Edward’s Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Helyn (nee: Erhardt).

Bob was employed as a superintendent at Ametek. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Among his interests, Bob was an automobile enthusiast, enjoyed square dancing for many years, loved his home away from home at their long time camping trailer in Door County, was a self-taught home improvement expert – sharing his talents with others while helping family & friends with projects, and (in recent times) solved many word search puzzles. He enjoyed going down to Tom’s shop, having coffee and visiting with the guys, and helping out wherever he was needed. Above all, Bob was all about family…they were his everything.

Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Helyn; their children, Deborah (Douglas) Haas, Thomas (Lynne) Blodgett, Todd (Tracey) Blodgett and Annmarie (Jay) Bertermann; grandchildren, Brian Haas, Stephanie (Brent) Peyton, Kari (Dayton) Olinger, Staci & Cory Blodgett, Brittaney & Hunter Bertermann; great-granddaughter, Lena Olinger; brother-in-law, Charles Feehrer; sister-in-law, Joyce Erhardt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was greeted in Heaven by his sister, Barbara Feehrer; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Robert) Cadem; brother-in-law, Clinton Erhardt; and by Helyn’s parents, Helen & Herbert (nee: Thoennes) Erhardt.

Visitation will be Monday, June 15, 2020 from 4:00-5:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva Street in Racine. A service celebrating Bob’s life will follow on Monday at the church at 5:30 pm. In honor of Bob, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Kenneth Bastin and Dr. Michael Mullane for the compassionate care & support given in Bob’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Helen, I am saddened and wanted to send my condolences and prayers to you and your Family for the loss of Bob! In 1992, I started working at Ametek on 2nd shift for 12 years in the Machining Department. That day Bob became my Boss! He was a petite, kind , and very helpful person! If you needed him , he was there! He was that Boss that everyone liked, I loved working at Ametek and part of that reason was because of Bob! He was a one of a kind Boss that I can never forget and I was sad when he retired!I remember when I was working as a hostess at Infusinos about 4 years ago. I was so glad to reconnect with him and meet you! I will truly never forget Bob! He was the Best and I will never forget him!❤️

Testimonials

August 1, 2025

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.

Hilda Balderas
