Racine – Robert “Bob” Charles Begotka, 90, realized the promise of eternal life on Friday, August 4, 2017. He was born on September 6, 1926, in Mountain, WI, son of the late Allen and Effie (née: Chroge) Begotka.
Bob enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1943, when he was 16 years old, and proudly and faithfully served his country in the Pacific Theater during and after World War II. He was a graduate of Green Bay East High School and attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison. On February 22, 1947, Bob was united in marriage with the love of his life, the former Delores Marion Zorn, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Marinette, WI. In 1955, Bob joined the Ansul Chemical Company in Marinette, WI, where he had a distinguished career as an executive managing international sales until his retirement in 1987.
Faith and family were paramount in Bob’s life. He was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Marinette for many years, and generously volunteered his time and talents in a number of leadership positions for both the church and elementary school. Bob was also a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was affectionately known by all as “Big Dad.” Big Dad was the patriarch of a large and still-growing family, and he gladly provided help and advice whenever it was needed. His generous spirit and wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed by his entire family and many others who knew him.
Bob’s memory will be cherished by his wife of over 70 years, Delores Begotka; children, Linda (James) Anderson, Randy (Catherine Sweeney) Begotka, Ricky (Patricia) Begotka, Robert (Ignacia Moreno) Begotka; grandchildren, Randy (Tammie) Begotka, Lauri (Frank) Goetz, Matthew (Emily) Anderson, Brandon (Tammie) Begotka, Angela (Ryan) Randall, Lindsay (Delwyn) Todd, Tristan (Amber) Begotka, Nicholas Begotka; great-grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Grace, Eloise, Carter, Jessica, Landon, Keagan, Micaiah, Aliyah, Aubriana, Marcus, Broden, Bennett, Sophie; brother, DuWayne ( Marilyn) Begotka; and other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Thoughts and prayers are with you. I am Tonya Techmeier, my maiden name is Tonya Timmers. My father is Thomas Timmers, my grandmother was Elsie Timmers. she was Bobby’s sister. I remember taking family trips to visit my great uncle Bobbi, and great auntie Deloris. My sisters and I always enjoyed the visit. I even remember the big dog, Donald. We called him ol McDonald. Xoxo. Forever in my heart.
Tammy L. Carpenter (Timmers) says
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Bobby Begotka. I think Bobby would be my Great Uncle. My grandmother was Elsie Timmers, who was Bobby’s sister. I have memories of going to Bobby’s house as a very young child. Sitting in the living room as the adults were all talking I remember wanting to pet a lovely dog that I remember was named ‘Mcdonald’. I just remember him being very big, and when I reached down to pet him he barked and I ran back to my mom so quickly the chair she was sitting on almost tipped over. I remember Bobby and everyone laughing. My grandmother had a fantastic personality and was very kind, generous and loving and had a great sense of humor. It sounds like Bobby was the same way. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Heartfelt sympathies to all the family and especially Delores. It truly was an honor getting to know him and we enjoyed the stories he shared of the days at Ansul working with Jeff’s dad, Carl.
Our prayers are with you and for Robert.
Rev. (Deacon) Patrick Rudolph says
I worked at Ansul with Bob in the International Div. for many years. In fact when Bob retired I took his job in International Sales and Marketing. Also Bob had a lot to do with me coming to Ansul in 1968. He was a very good friend and colleague and I will miss him. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. My prayers are with Delores and family.
