Racine~~Sandra L. Hadley, age 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 2, 2015. Sandra was born September 22, 1941, in Centralia, IL, the daughter of Robert V. and Anna M. Hadley.
She graduated from Racine’s Washington Park High School in 1959 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1964. She received a Master of Science degree in Education in 1989 from National Louis University, and taught for over thirty years in various Racine Unified School, retiring in 2001.
Sandra was an active lifelong member of Wayman African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she taught Tuesday Morning Bible Study, Sunday School, helped out at Kid’s Café, and was secretary of the Lay Organization. She was a member of NAACP. Sandra was an avid bowler, loved ceramics and baking, especially cookies.
Preceding Sandra in death are her parents, Robert and Anna Hadley; sisters Elnora Hadley, Jeanetta Cobbler, Rev. Norma Carter, Bobbye Jo Bruce; brothers Walter Hadley, Thomas Hadley, Paul Hadley and Gilbert Hadley.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Tammi Shareef, granddaughter, Taylor Abraham of Fargo, ND and grandson, Tyler Hadley, long-time companion David Hursey, sisters Ilma (Fred) Oates, Mary (William)Brown, Grapevine, TX, brothers Kenneth (Lillian) Hadley and Barry (Shirley) Hadley, Victoryville, CA, sister-in-law Yvonne Hadley, St. Charles, MO, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Monday, Feb. 9th at 11:00 am, at Wayman A.M.E Church, 424 North Memorial Dr. Visitation will be at the church from 10-11am. Rev. Ernest Ni'A – Pastor and Dr. Roy L. Carter – Eulogist.
