I have known Sharon for close to 25 years. She shared many fitness class and events at the YMCA and also became part of my social group. I last saw her Wednesday at the YMCA, doing what she loved most. Sharon was a loving, devoted and most selfless person. She never hesitated to volunteer at any event or even listen to my simple babble. She loved and cherished life and those around her. I will hold her friendship close to my heart for many, many years. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Kathy Shillinglaw says
Sharon was a dedicated and humble runner. She claimed everyone was faster and better than her, not so. She ran through pain and pins and screws. She was dedicated to the YMCA and will be missed.

Sharon was an endlessly optimistic and cheerful person who always brought a smile to my face. I will remember her as a dedicated teacher and athlete, always striving to be better, and to help others improve their lives.

I met Sharon at the YMCA almost 20 years ago and we became fast acquaintances–both gym rats. We saw less of each other once my teaching time decreased, yet when we did connect we always spent a few minutes catching up. She never failed to ask about my husband and kids and to tell me about the triplets–all of their trials and successes over the years. She was a warm and loving friend and a dedicated individual. I am so saddened to hear of this unexpected passing of such a dear sweet soul.

I know Sharon from the YMCA where she taught me along with a host of others how to be the best you can be. Sharon motivated all of us to work our hardest as she always did and how to push yourself to your maximum potential. For that reason, I always looked forward to her classses. I took one of her classes last week and I clearly recall her saying to the rest of us struggling with our crunches, that “If I can do it (with the sinus infection she had at the time) then we can all do it”! She was and will always be an inspiration for all of us. The YMCA is just not the same without her familar presence and words of kindness for everyone.
Christina Martin says
Sharon has been such a wonderful part of the YMCA for many years. She was an active participant and instructor who loved fitness. She was so open and caring and worked with so many members that will remember her with a smile. She will be missed in so many ways.

To Sharon’s family: I knew Sharon at work and I wish we would have had more time with her. She was always friendly and helpful and we shared stories of our families, especially of our nieces and nephews, and she loved to hear about my daughter, too. I know she loved all of you very much and I am deeply sorry for your loss. I am sad for losing a friend, too.

Sharon was one of the first people I met when I joined the Y more than 10 years ago; she was truly a part of my “Y Family.” She was always so friendly and helpful, and so dedicated to group fitness. I will miss seeing her in “Bodypump,” along with our chats in the locker room and, of course, that great big smile of hers. Rest in peace, Sharon, you will definitely be missed.

Honestly, I don’t know where she found the time. I was also a collegue of Sharon’s at the downtown YMCA. In sharing the awful news of her passing to our participants this week, I couldn’t even believe how Sharon could find the time to teach classes, take so many classes AND run for hours. She always apologized if she missed even a minute of someone’s class, although that was usually due to her teaching another class just before or just after. When it came to asking Sharon for help, she never said no.
Sharon you will be sorely missed, and to me your spot in BodyPump class will always be open. Now you can literaly run like the wind!

Roy, my thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Sharon, I am going to miss you! I got to know you well while you taught the Thursday night muscle conditioning class downtown at Northwestern Mutual. You cared so much about fitness and shared your passion so selflessly with your students. I got to konw you on a personal level as well, for which I am extremely grateful. I remain stunned by your loss, but know you are in a wonderful place in heaven where you can run and exercise forever. My deepest sympathies go out to your family.
Tom Bray says
I was shocked and saddened to learn of Sharon’s passing. She was a delightful person and a dedicated runner and exercise leader. I knew her for about 20 years at the YMCA. We often talked about the Green Bay Packers who we both cheered for. She was a Packer supporter no matter how badly they performed, and often shared wbout watching games at her parents house. She also kept us abreast of her sister and the triplets.
We have lost a good friend who always smiled and had a word with many of us. May God bless all her family and many friends during this time of grieving. And may we meet again….!

Although I only worked with Sharon for 1 year at the brewery, I considered her a good friend. I looked forward to talking sports with her and needling her about her devotion to Farve. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten here. My sympathies to her family and friends.

I am so shocked and sad to think that we have lost Sharon. She was such a genuine good person – she talked to everyone, cheered us up, always a kind word – I met Sharon about 20 years ago when we all joined the 411 Y. Imagine! We’ve all been regulars for that long – but Sharon was the most dedicated of all….I just can’t imagine coming to the Y and not seeing her. Sharon, you will be truly missed – a light gone out too soon!
Nora Vazquez says
I had the pleasure of babysitting Sharon as a little girl and was able to reconnect with her as an adult as Sue and Sharon became lifelong friends and she attended many gatherings with us. She was always at ease among our boisterous group of Conway’s and fit in like a long lost family member. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope the pain that you feel today will be eventually replaced with wonderful memories and peace. I do believe that Heaven has a new angel watching over all of you!
