Waterford – Steven J. Seitz, 56, received the promise of eternal life on Saturday, May 26, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born in Racine on March 16, 1962, son of Donald and Joan (nee: DeGroot) Seitz.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Michelle Lynn Lutkus, on September 12, 1987. Steve graduated from J.I. Case High School in 1980, where he was a member of both varsity wrestling and baseball teams.  He received his Associate Degree in Civil Engineering from Gateway Technical College and enjoyed a rewarding career at Kapur and Associates Engineering Firm in Burlington.  Steve had a love for baseball throughout his life and coached youth baseball for Racine Erickson’s for many years.  Steve was a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants and the Green Bay Packers.  Born on the day before St. Patrick’s Day, Steve frequently celebrated his birthday with an Irish twist, even though he was not Irish.  He was an avid music enthusiast with an immense music library, which he shared with family and friends.  In earlier years, he was the “light man” for the local band ‘Wally Cleaver,’ in which his brother and friends played.  Steve was a meticulous planner and craftsman.  His fabulous rec room that he designed and built is where he and Michelle entertained guests. It is the crown jewel of their home. He designed and built a sturdy version of the washer board game, which he proudly replicated for family and friends for their summer enjoyment.  Above all, Steve’s deep faith, fierce love of family, and a uniquely wonderful sense of humor will be his legacy. He will be sadly and dearly missed by all.

Steve leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 30 years, Michelle Seitz of Waterford; son, Corey Seitz of Waterford; mother Joan Seitz of Mount Pleasant; siblings, Gary (Ann) Seitz of Racine; Susan Seitz, Tom (Terri) Seitz, Sheri (David) Edwards all of Mount Pleasant; Vicki (Richard) Alheid of Williams Bay, Amy (Scott) Lund of Franklin; brothers in law, Jeff Lutkus of Mount Pleasant, and Scott (Ann) Lutkus of Kansasville; two of his very special friends, Steve Czerniejewski and Greg Nyboe, along with nieces, nephews and many other friends, too numerous to mention. Steve was preceded in death by his father Donald Seitz, father-in-law Clemons Lutkus and mother-in-law Carol Lutkus.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:00 pm at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, Mount Pleasant, WI, with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating.   Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (www.theaftd.org).

The family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to the staff at Autumn Leaves (Gurnee and Franklin), and to the staff at Heartland Hospice for the care given to Steve throughout this difficult time.

He had the gift of love and gab like no other. We are better for having known him – God has blessed us. What a legend …. we are never ready to hear this news. My prayer to the family – May Christ lift Steve’s family up during these difficult days – let their hearts be filled not with sadness but with happiness knowing Steve is indeed the life of the party in Heaven. What a man 🙂 Thank you for sharing him with us Michele. xo

Steve and I worked on many projects together over the years and he was very meticulous and an expert CAD drafter. He always had a quick wit and made our sometime long hours enjoyable. His love for sports (Giants (full gear), Packers) and music was always entertaining. Our thoughts and prayers go to Michelle , Corey and family.
    He will be deeply missed.

    Sue and family,
My heart breaks for all of you. Watching how cruel life can be to the young and taking them from us so early is very difficult to understand. I pray that you find the strength you need to help you through this time. May you find peace in the memory of your brother and know that he is no longer struggling.

My condolences on your loss. Steve was a great guy. I haven’t seen him since moving away from Racine many years ago, but when I played softball with him and umpired games that he played in, he was always a pleasure to talk to.

    Rest in peace, Steve!

Michelle and family…. I was saddened to see that Steve had passed away. He was always a positive individual and a great coach while working with the players in the Erickson Baseball program. I am currently out of town and can not make Steve’s funeral, but you and your family are in my prayers. May god be with you and your family in this difficult time.

I was deeply saddened when I heard this news. I’ve known Steve for a long time, mostly as a coworker, but he always made me feel like more than that and I consider him a friend. I’ve got so many great stories that I will hold onto. He touched many people with his humor, wit, and easy personality. He would ALWAYS talk about his family. There’s no doubt in my mind that Michele & Corey meant everything to him. Steve, Corey, Michele, and your extended family are in my thoughts and prayers!

Testimonials

May 25, 2021

My family wants to thank you and your team for all that you did to walk along side us in my mom’s death and celebration of life. You all did an amazing job with such care, concern of details, and sensitivity to our family. I know my moms body was treated respectfully in your care and that meant the world to us to have confidence in that.
