Racine,WI – Sylvester Dean Johnson Jr., passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Racine, Wisconsin at the age of 36. 

Sylvester D.  Johnson Jr. was born on December 3, 1982 in Chicago, Illinois to Allene C. and Sylvester Johnson Sr.  As a young boy, he fell in love with tumbling and joined his father’s team as a tumbler.  Sylvester attended Schulte Elementary School in Racine, Wisconsin. His family later relocated to Chicago Illinois where he attended Spencer Academy. Sylvester’s educational journey continued when he attended one of the best high schools in the city of Chicago, Lane Tech College Preparatory High School. 

After graduating from Lane Tech High School, he enlisted in The United States Army.  He was honorably discharged from the Army and then he enrolled at DeVry University located in Chicago, Illinois. While attending DeVry University he studied electronics.  Sylvester’s educational journey continued when he returned back to Racine, Wisconsin and attended Gateway College where he received his CNA certification. His passion was music and he was a well know musician in Racine.

Sylvester preceded in death by his mother, Allene C. Johnson; grandparents, Lillian and William Moss, Charles Edwards Sr., Eddie and Allene B. Lee; aunt, Daphne Johnson and his uncle, Charles Edwards Jr.  He leaves to cherish his memories his loving father, Sylvester Johnson; his sister, Sylvia Hunt; his brother, Anthony Johnson; nephew, Antonio Johnson; nieces, Alisha Johnson and Ella Hunt, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, other family members and friends too numerous to mention by name.

The Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, 4:00pm in the Chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the Chapel from 3:00 –  4:00pm.
