Julie’s Personal Touch

Racine – Sylvia Vivian (Tamm) Mueller Petersen, age 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Casa Del Mare on Saturday, February 11, 2017.

Sylvia was born in Franksville, WI on September 23, 1922, daughter of the late Ida and William Tamm. She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School.  United in Marriage to Clement Anthony Mueller on January 25, 1947, Clement preceded her in death in 1976.  She married Everett Petersen on October 18, 1980 and he passed in 1993.

Sylvia was a stay at home mom, whose whole life was devoted to her family. Nothing gave her greater joy than taking care of her families’ every need.  She loved the Brewers, Cubs, and Packers and would plan her day around their games.  She enjoyed traveling, dinner out, a game of cards and, before losing most of her sight, she loved to do embroidery work and donated many beautiful items for the St. Lucy’s festival.  Even though her vision prevented her from doing many things in her later years her motto was “Take each day as it comes and make the most of it”.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Paul (Karen) Mueller, George (Mary Sue) Mueller, and Patricia (Patrick) Prout, her grandchildren, Jennifer (Brant) Boelts, Brian (Amanda) Prout, Kelly Mueller, Craig (Christi) Mueller, Brandon (Jamie) Mueller, Lauren (Karl) Mueller, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, her sister, Dorothy Bakke, sister-in-laws, Doris Mueller and Jane Mueller, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Sylvia was preceded in death by her sisters, Norma (Gary) Minikel, Geraldine (Gus) Bakke, and Florence (Lawrence) Ruetz, and brothers, Harold (Raymel) Tamm and George (Mary Ellen) Tamm, brothers in laws, Carl Rice, Larry Syrjanen, Rudolph (Jane) Mueller, Bernard Mueller, Leonard (Doris) Mueller and sister-in-laws, Francis (Howard) Doersching, Madeline (Elmer) Schiek, and Betty (Mark) Nelson.

Visitation will be at Draeger Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday, February 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, Racine, WI on Monday, February 20th, with visitation beginning at 10 am.

Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Casa Del Mare for their compassionate care. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society, United Cerebral Palsy, or American Diabetes Association.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Bill’s service was beautiful, beyond belief. Leslie was priceless in all she did. Gary, knowing Bill for many years, said a few words at the service. The special touched I didn’t expect warmed my heart. Two very, very special people helped make a sad day into something very special.

Thank you to all those that helped behind the scene, setting up, opening doors. My heart is full.

Bless you.

Helene Hellesen
