Thomas L. Pias

Sep 12, 1937 – Dec 17, 2015

Racine – Thomas L. Pias, age 78, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Thursday, December 17, 2015.

Tom was born in Kenosha, WI on September 12, 1937 to the late Lawrence and Viola (nee: McAleer) Pias. He was a 1955 graduate of Saint Catherine’s High School. On June 9, 1956 he was united in marriage with the love of his life, C. Marlene (nee: Sonnen). Tom was employed for many years at Frank Gentile Automobile dealership, retiring as Vice-President in 1997.

Tom was a longtime member of Saint Lucy Catholic Church. He loved golfing and playing competitive softball. He took great pride in the fact that he was able to play on the same team with his four sons. Tom continued to play and argue with umpires well into his sixties. After the outside games, Tom loved spending time with his family and friends playing competitive card games.

Surviving Tom, are his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Marlene; their five children, Thomas (Patricia) Pias, Daniel (Ramona) Pias, Dennis (Marlies) Pias, Patrick (Diana) Pias and Carolyn (John Cass) Pias; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Cathy (LaSalle) DeMicchi; Sister-In-Law Ruth Sonnen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by Marlene’s parents, Eugene and Charlotte Sonnen and her brother, Robert Sonnen.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Lucy Catholic Church. The Rev. Mark R. Jones officiated. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery. In memory of Tom, memorials to Saint Lucy Catholic Church has been suggested.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and the entire Support Staff at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for the compassionate care and support given in Tom’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
