Udall A. Neels

Oct 17, 1926 – Mar 6, 2006

Udie, 70, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, March 6,2006. He was born in Racine on October 17, 1926, the son of the late William and Hannah (nee: Hansen) Neels. Udie served his country with the U.S. Navy Amphibian Unit, in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. On February 2, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Rose Leskowicz Sunde. Udie was a letter carrier with the U.S. Post Office for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the National Association of Retired Letter Carriers, and the V.F.W .Post 1391. Surviving are his devoted wife Rose, their son Thomas (Natalie) Sunde; grandchildren Scott T. Sunde and Stephanie Sunde all of Arlington, TX; sister Oryne Flatten of Racine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Chet (Helen) Leskowicz, Florence Neibaur all of Racine, and Pearl (Walter) Mynar of North Hills. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Ione (Fred) Rathman and Eleanor Bethbezze, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen and Vincent Leskowicz, and his brothers-in-law Ed Flatten and Ruel Neibaur. The Funeral Mass for Udie will be held in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3051 Drexel Avenue, on Friday, March 10th, at 11:00 a.m.., with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Graceland Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to either the Southeastern Cancer Center or the Multiple Myoloma Association. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Odders and his staff, Hospice Alliance, and all of our family and friends for the tremendous amount of thoughts, prayers, and support so warmly extended to us.
