Valerie K. Becker

Mrs. Valerie K. Becker, 95, died at Becker-Shoop Center on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. She was born in Escanaba, MI on June 3, 1912 to Joseph and Margaret (nee: Morris) Hart. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Escanaba. On October 18, 1932, she married John N. Becker in Racine. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1962. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Becker worked as a nursing aid for 15 years, retiring in 1977. Mrs. Becker was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Her survivors include her children, David (Marlene) Becker of Davenport, Fl, Richard (Charlotte) Becker of Arvada, CO, Thomas Becker of Racine, Joan (Alfred) Harwell of Cartersville, GA, John (Marlene) Becker of Golden, CO; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, her son-in-law, Donald Meredith; daughter-in-law, Janet Becker; her grandson, Jeff Becker; brothers, Fred, Henry and Tellsfor and sisters, Melvina, Marguerite, Bernadette and Zepherine all preceded her in death. Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday evening for a visitation from 5-7 p.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Ave.) on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. There will also be a visitation in the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Her burial will follow the mass in Calvary Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to either Becker-Shoop Center or to one’s favorite charity.
