RACINE – Mrs. Vernia J. Harris, 92, passed away on August 24, 2017 at Ascension All Saints.

She was born in Augusta, GA on February 6, 1925.  Vernia was united in marriage to Henry G. Harris in 1947.

Vernia loved and served her God, Jehovah as a full time pioneer minister for over 30 years as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Vernia was a very loving person.  She loved her family and friends.  She especially loved attending the meetings at the Kingdom Hall.  When she could no longer physically attend the meetings, she would listen on the telephone.

Vernia’s hobbies included gardening and planting flowers in her yard and flower box.  She loved music and dancing with her husband and daughters.

Vernia is survived by her daughter, Diane Willis; her grandsons, Anthony “Paul” (Caitlin) Willis and Michael Brown; her son-in-law, Mathew Marzette; her great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as numerous, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. Harris and her daughter, Brenda D. Marzette.

A memorial service for Vernia will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (1600 N. Summerset Dr. Mount Pleasant, WI 53406) with Elder Fred DeLacy officiating.  There will be a visitation at Kingdom Hall from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The family of Vernia Harris acknowledges with sincere appreciation, the care provided by Amy, R.N. and Cathy, C.N.A. at Vernia’s home; as well as the emergency room staff on August 24, 2017.
