Vinnie Evelyn Campeau

Dec 11, 1915 – Jun 7, 2006

Racine – Vinnie Evelyn Campeau, 90, passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Wednesday, June 7, 2006. She was born in Osseo, Wisconsin on December 11, 1915 to the late Robert and Mildred (nee: Hayes) Rosenberg. On April 3, 1942 she was married to Lawrence Campeau, who preceded her on January 16, 1983.

Vinnie lived most of her life in Racine. She worked for many years as a billing clerk at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was always busy, and liked to golf, bowl, and volunteer at St. Luke’s after her retirement. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, hooking rugs and needlework. She was a member of the Homemakers Club at the County Extension, and a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Lawrence (Kathy) Campeau, Jr, Linda Campeau both of Racine, Susan (John) Opahle of Merrimac, and James (Carolyn) Campeau of Cedarburg; seven grandchildren, Scott Opahle, Nicole Opahle, Jason Collum, Brian Hansen, Kelli Hansen, Jeanine (Scott) Simmons, and Julia (Chris) Baran; seven great-grandchildren, Brook, Stella, Brittany, Brandi, Brenna, Braelyn, and Brielle; two sisters, Mary Eaton of Necedah, and Luelle (Glenn) Haukeness of Strum, as well as many other relatives and friends. She was also preceded by two sisters and six brothers.

The funeral mass for Vinnie E. Campeau will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2006 St. Edward’s Catholic Church with Rev. Richard J. Moltor officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Hwy 32. Visitation will begin in the church at 9:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Edward’s have been suggested.

Our family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Ridgewood Health & Rehabilitation unit 1E, and St. Mary’s Medical Center unit 2c, for the loving and compassionate care given to Vinnie and her family.
