Walter Ben Moore

Aug 1, 1910 – Apr 1, 2007

Racine- Walter B. Moore, 96, was born into Eternal Life on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2007. He was born on August 1, 1910 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Walter and Avery (nee: Hill) Moore. An extremely tireless gentleman with a profound work ethic, Walter had been employed by Hass Metal Parts for many years. He also owned and operated W.B. Moore and Sons Plumbing and Electrical Service. A strong believer in Jesus Christ, Walter accepted Jesus late in life and continued to call on Him until he took his last breath. Walter was proud of his home, including the several acres of land, of which he enjoyed gardening and tending to. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Walter was also a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, once even traveling by train to Arizona to watch spring training. He lived life to the fullest and was even known to occasionally enjoy his pipe or a pinch of snuff. Above all, he loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family. Walter will be missed by the many lives he touched in his 96 years of life. Surviving are his daughter, Bonnie Blakemore-Surney; grandchildren, Kenneth Blakemore, Walter K. (Kesha) Moore, Kelly Blakemore and LaTasha Surney; great-grandchildren, Justin, Adonis and Delecia Blakemore; Imani, Mia, and Walter K. Moore Jr.; Ayonna Foster and Tyler Blakemore; special niece, Hattie (David) Riley-Coles; special nephew, Willie (Ruth) Riley; devoted friend, Mildred (Paul) Jones; and a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie L. (nee: Fuller) Moore; second wife, Idelia (nee: Johnson) Moore; brother, Willie (Viella nee: Venzant) Moore; and grandson, Adrian Blakemore. Homegoing services will be celebrated in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 10th, from 10-11 am. A special note of thanks to WFH- All Saints Hospice team and to all my co-workers at University of Wisconsin – Extension for all your care and support. May the Light of the Lord shine upon all of you. You all have been my “rock”. Thank you from the depths of my soul. Love- Bonnie Surney and family

Testimonials

Vicky Coerper

Brian and the rest of the staff, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for handling every detail of our mom’s (Vera Miller’s) funeral so expeditiously and flawlessly. Being here in North Carolina, I was worried about getting mom back to WI which was her wish. All I had to do was make one phone call to your office and you seamlessly got her from Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC back to WI.

All of the arrangements were so impeccable; pictures, book for signing, flowers, thank you and acknowledgement cards, arrangements with Graceland Cemetery, and even playing our slideshow with music and photos, and getting it to loop properly.

You took so much worry off of me and my siblings by professionally stepping in and handling everything for us. I was going a little crazy thinking I had to do it all, but you helped so much that we just needed to share these thoughts and feelings with others. Thank you for everything,

– Vicky Coerper, Janice Miller, Kenny Miller and Monica Bailey
