Mount Pleasant – Wanita “Nita” Oliver, 67, passed away on October 10, 2016 at her home with family members at her side following a year-long battle with cancer. She was born February 27, 1949 in Long Prairie, Minnesota to LeRoy and Evelyn (nee: Holmes) Emmeck.  The family then moved to Oregon for a time and finally settled in Stuart, Florida.  Nita was a 1967 graduate of Martin County High School in Stuart, and attended Indian River Community College.  She was married to Jerome “Jerry” Oliver in West Palm Beach, Florida on August 9, 1969. Nita was employed for many years at First National Bank in Stuart, Florida.  After relocating to Wisconsin she was employed by Case New Holland Aviation department in Waukegan, Illinois as an aviation accountant and flight dispatcher.  She retired in 2012.

Nita had many hobbies, including reading and going for long rides with Jerry.  Her favorite place was the family cabin in Outing, Minnesota – affectionately known as “The Shack”, where family and friends witnessed a grandma transform into a school-aged child as she joined her grandchildren on tube rides and swimming outings.  Nightly critter patrols were on the menu as well.

“Always find the good in something.”  Six words that were easy for Nita to say.  However, she not only spoke these words, she lived them.  Quick with a smile or a laugh, to know Nita was to love Nita.  With Nita, you were a stranger for a moment and then a friend for life.

Nita is survived by husband, Jerry Oliver; her son and daughter-in-law Lieutenant Colonel Chris Oliver, US Army and Colonel Germaine Oliver, US Army of San Antonio, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Laura and Blake Luedtke of Union Grove; and daughter Cori Oliver of Deland, Florida.  She is further survived by grandchildren Griffin and Keely Oliver, and Brock, Karsten, and Sutton Luedtke; and her brother Dirk. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Garry and Errol.

A memorial service to celebrate Nita’s life will be held in the funeral home on October 29, 2016 at 5:00pm with Pastor Jeremy Moore officiating. Visitation from 4pm – 5pm. Nita’s wish is to return home to Florida to be interred at All Saints’ Cemetery in Jensen Beach. Donations to the Salvation Army in Nita’s memory have been suggested.

Dear Jerry, Mary and I were so fortunate to have known Nita and yourself these past years. Please accept our deepest condolences. I consider myself one of the extremely lucky ones because I was able to work with Nita which meant you laughed with Nita. When you walked in a room that Nita was in you would immediately smile and laugh with her. She had the courage to always be honest . We will miss her immensely . God Bless Art and Mary Patek

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Brian and the rest of the staff, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for handling every detail of our mom’s (Vera Miller’s) funeral so expeditiously and flawlessly. Being here in North Carolina, I was worried about getting mom back to WI which was her wish. All I had to do was make one phone call to your office and you seamlessly got her from Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC back to WI.

All of the arrangements were so impeccable; pictures, book for signing, flowers, thank you and acknowledgement cards, arrangements with Graceland Cemetery, and even playing our slideshow with music and photos, and getting it to loop properly.

You took so much worry off of me and my siblings by professionally stepping in and handling everything for us. I was going a little crazy thinking I had to do it all, but you helped so much that we just needed to share these thoughts and feelings with others. Thank you for everything,

– Vicky Coerper, Janice Miller, Kenny Miller and Monica Bailey
