Racine – Wilda Louise (Rae) Thomas, 84, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Franciscan Villa in South Milwaukee. She was born in Columbus, Mississippi on March 6, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph Alexander and Sarah Williams. Wilda was a resident of Racine from 1951-1970, Milwaukee from 1970-2003, and then returned to Racine.

Wilda will be remembered for her skills as a seamstress; the love she put into every meal she prepared; and for the motherly advice provided to her children and grandchildren, as well as the young people she welcomed into her home. She loved to shop and was known for all her fashionable hats. Her faith in the Lord was without question, and she was a faithful and long-time member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church while living in Milwaukee, and the Greater Mt. Eagle Baptist Church in Racine.

Left to cherish precious memories are her children: Jacqueline (Glenn Boykin) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Larry Thomas of Columbus, Mississippi, Jennifer (Richard) Thurman of Racine, Mark (Cristy) Thomas of Mequon, Bobby (Julian Jones) Thomas of Milwaukee, 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: George (Rosalind) Irby Jr., Linda (Henry Lee) Jones, and Pamala (Michael) Humphries all of Columbus, Mississippi; and her dear friend Hattie Hamdlin of Milwaukee; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sheena Renee House, parents, Sarah and George “Happy” Irby and Joseph Alexander.

Homegoing services will be held at Greater Mt. Eagle Baptist Church, 929 State Street at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the “Happy Christmas Fund” LLC, which provides gifts to needy children. P.O. Box 9292, Columbus, MS 39705.
