Will E. Crockett

Service Details

His Homegoing Service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, November 30th at 6:00 p.m., with Rev. Fred L. Richmond Sr. officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will take place on Wednesday in Graceland Cemetery.

Will E. Crockett, 87, completed his earthly pilgrimage on Thursday, November 18, 2021. He was born in Houston, MS on March 29, 1934, the son of the late Will and Anna Lucy (nee: Baskin) Crockett.

Mr. Crockett graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He had been employed as a correctional officer for the Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility. Mr. Crockett enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he relished the time spent with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Tamy Burnette, William Crockett, and Veia Crockett, all of Racine; his seven grandchildren, Devina (Daniel) Goldsmith, Dominique Tillman, Merrica McWhorter, Daiquan Tillman, Jonathan Bogan, and Bianca Davis; six great grandchildren, Karmen, James, DáMillie, Kehlani, Amina, and Amir; his brother, Develt (Challotté) Crockett, of Lansing, IL.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Crockett was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Vista Jackson, three brothers, Noah, Andy, and Joe Crockett; and four sisters, Lynn Yarborough, Mamie Crockett, Corrine Dansler, and Ruth Knowlin.

    Crockett was our Maintenance Sgt. at RYOCF. So many memories, laughs and head shakes :-).
    He was a blast!!!!

    Will, it was always a pleasure to speak with you on many subjects when you stopped at George’s Tavern for a beverage. You had a great mind and were able to converse in depth on many topics…I will miss that.

    Will was a neighbor who always had a warm hello for everyone. Saw him often in Summer preparing to go fishing. We will miss Will.

    Will and I went through the academy together and we fought for our right to graduate. We had some great talks both on and off the job. I will miss that weekly call we made since retirement RIP my friend!

    Condolence to the family of Wil Crockett I met Will several years ago when he first arrived in Racine we worked together at the division of of Vocational rehabilitation I have great memories of the time we spent together doing what he enjoyed most helping others may your memories sustain you during this difficult time .

    I worked with Will at the MCS station at RCI for 3 years. Everyone liked Sarge. Well respected by the inmates also.
