Betty M. Matson

Sep 10, 1927 – Feb 19, 2006

Racine- Betty M. Matson, 78, passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Sunday, February 19, 2006. She was born in Racine on September 10, 1927, daughter of the late Vincent James and Carmella (nee: Gioelli ) Trentadue. She was married in Racine on December 13, 1947 to Eugene Matson. Betty had a long career as a beautician and hair stylist, working at several salons including the Magic Scissors, and Beauty Unlimited. She enjoyed taking walks, reading, and playing in her bridge club. She truly loved children, and enjoyed helping with cub scouts and P.T.A. She had a special love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was a faithful member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Gene Matson; their children, Robert (Lyn) Matson of Racine, Jerry (Marianne) Matson of Lyons, and Jackie Brisko of Ft. Atkinson; grandchildren, Krystl, Joseph, and Alex Matson all of Racine, Jason (Robyn) Matson of Honey Creek, Sean (Jen) Matson of Burlington, Jeremy Matson of Burlington, and Tracie Brisko of Racine; great grandchildren, Devin, Summer, Caitlyn, Cheyenne, Payton, Kaylee, Jordan, and Skyler Matson; her brother, Vince (Joan) Trentadue of Racine; and sister-in-law, Germaine Cobb of Rockville, Maryland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded by her sisters, Pal Neuman, Mary Nelson, Joan Romantini, Grace Trentadue, Lydia Hudec; and her brothers, Victor, and Joe Trentadue. The funeral mass for Betty will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2006 with Fr. Mark Jones officiating. Internment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m., and Friday morning in the church from 9:15 – 9:45.

Brian and the rest of the staff, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for handling every detail of our mom’s (Vera Miller’s) funeral so expeditiously and flawlessly. Being here in North Carolina, I was worried about getting mom back to WI which was her wish. All I had to do was make one phone call to your office and you seamlessly got her from Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC back to WI.

All of the arrangements were so impeccable; pictures, book for signing, flowers, thank you and acknowledgement cards, arrangements with Graceland Cemetery, and even playing our slideshow with music and photos, and getting it to loop properly.

You took so much worry off of me and my siblings by professionally stepping in and handling everything for us. I was going a little crazy thinking I had to do it all, but you helped so much that we just needed to share these thoughts and feelings with others. Thank you for everything,
