UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA (formerly of Racine) – Mrs. Shirley Oliver, 87, passed away at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Tacoma, WA on September 20, 2025.

Shirley was born in Stonewall, MS on June 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Dave and Alice (nee Davis) Goodwin.   She moved to Racine in 1959 and met Joseph Oliver.  They married on February 27, 1960.   Joseph preceded her in death on December 10, 2011.

Shirley enjoyed watching  Jimmy Swaggart, Milwaukee Bucks, casino trips to play the slots and watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune.  However, her greatest joys were her family and cooking.  Often, they coincided with each other. She loved family dinners, family trips, and helping raise her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Alma Oliver and Debra Montague; her grandchildren, Khalilah Oliver, Diamond Oliver, Allen Adams, Corderro Oliver, and Tyler Montague; great grandchildren Adriona (Jake) Olson, Terrell Banks, Malik Collins, Nyzier Oliver, Elijah Finley, Nyah Oliver, Alahna Adams, and Bria Oliver; her great great grandchildren, Ber’Lin Collins and K’myah Collins; her brothers, John Lewis Goodwin and Benny Larry Goodwin; sisters-in-law, Grace McMillan, Gloria Oliver, and Betty Goodwin; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Oliver and 18 brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, OCTOBER 18, 2025, for a visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 am.  A service celebrating her life and Homegoing will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Testimonials

Sincere Gratitude

I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mike and the Draeger-Langendorf staff for such great service provided to us, as we made arrangements to lay our brother to rest. You all went above and beyond to make sure we understood every detail there was to know, from the greatest to the smallest. When we walked out of your office, we walked out with peace, knowing that our brother was in good hands. Thank you Mike for adding that special touch to my brother’s service, that’s the kind of stuff that separates you all from the rest. Once again Thank you so much.
