Robert C. Bauer

Oct 18, 1921 – Oct 22, 2006

Princeton (formerly of Sturtevant) – Robert C. Bauer, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2006, the day after he celebrated his 85th birthday with family and friends, at the Sunnyview Health Care Center in Princeton. Bob was born in Morton Grove, IL on October 18, 1921 to the late Joseph and Theresa (nee: Stanke) Bauer. On September 9, 1950 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Orth in Holy Name Church in Racine. He enlisted and served in the United States Army in World War II. Bob continued his defense of our nation by writing our legislatures, voting and supporting individuals and organizations that protected our liberties and individual freedoms. He served our Lord faithfully and was devoted to our Blessed Mother in daily rosary. Always dedicated to family and friends, Bob tirelessly placed the needs of others before his own. He was employed at Felix Peters garage in Sturtevant and Hurley’s Auto Clinic in Racine before starting his own business in 1954, Bob’s Auto Repair, in Sturtevant for over 30 years. His belief in home remedies and natural cures grew from his love of organic gardening and many of his organic concoctions were quite magical. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; and his children, Diana (Dennis) Wood of Sarona, Jeanette (Larry) Rickman of Sturtevant, Robert (Paula) Bauer of Madison, Rev. Fr. Donald Bauer of St. Rose of Lima Church in Cadott and Carl (Karen) Bauer of Waterford; his four grandchildren, Jennifer Wood, Kevin Rickman, Emily and Jacob Bauer. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother Donald. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Virginia McCabe, Betty (Wallace) Patzke, Frances Smetana, Joseph (Delores) Bauer, James (Pam) Bauer, Charles (Janet) Bauer, Charlotte Zboril and Eugene (Debbie) Bauer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 11:00 am in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126 – 95th Street in Sturtevant, with Bob’s son, Rev. Donald J. Bauer officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in St. Sebastian Church on Thursday from 4-6:30pm with the rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue in the church on Friday from 10-11 am. In memory of Robert, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Maryknoll Mission. A heartfelt note of thanks to the nurses and staff at Sunnyview Health Care Center and Hospice and to Bob and Mary’s faithful neighbors (the Haggerty’s) for all their kind care and support that was so warmly extended during their time of need. God bless all of you!
