Thomas James Clausen

vet
Aug 19, 1935 – Apr 26, 2012

Racine – Thomas James Clausen, 76, passed away at Oak Ridge Care Center on Thursday, April 26, 2012. He was born in Racine on August 19, 1935, son of the late Milton and Marian (nee: Schuster) Clausen. Tom graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1953. On January 30, 1960 he was united in marriage to Myrna Elaine Appel in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Tom served in the Wisconsin National Guard from 1960 – 1962.

Tom retired from the US Postal Service after more than 30 years of the best job he ever had. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing horseshoes, and was an avid bowler who had two “perfect” 300 games.  He was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his children, Steve Clausen, Lynn (David) Grasso, Sally (Vicky Sharp) Clausen, Sam (Marnie) Clausen, and Ann Clausen; six grandchildren, Kayla, Samantha, Jacob, Austin, Leah, and Alex; three great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Kasanndra, and Kali; his brother, Richard Clausen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Myrna; his granddaughter, Megan Rose Grasso; and his sister, Patricia Nelson.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012. Interment and military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. All are invited to visit the family in the funeral home on Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association have been suggested.

We would like to thank the staff of Oak Ridge Care Center, and Odyssey Hospice for their team effort in caring for Dad. Also a special thanks to the Koeberl family (Sherman, Stephanie, Justin, Marissa, Katlyn and Sarah) for their loving care of “Papa”
