
Mt. Pleasant – Paul R. Lohmann, 80, passed away at WFH-All Saints Hospital on Friday, August 31, 2012 following multiple battles with cancer. He was born in Racine on March 2, 1932, son of the late Richard H. and Louise A. (nee: Schroeder) Lohmann. Paul graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1950, and then served proudly in the US Air Force from 1951-1955. On November 8, 1958 he was united in marriage to Sharon B. Jung at St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
Following his discharge from the Air Force, Paul returned to Racine and to his job at Walker Manufacturing. He later worked at American Motors in Kenosha, and then in 1960 was hired by the US Postal Service where he worked until he retired in 1990. Between 1991 and 2011, he and Sharon enjoyed spending the winter in Mesa, Arizona. Paul enjoyed playing golf, bowling, traveling, fishing, visiting casinos, and being in the company of family and friends. He was a member of Racine Moose Lodge #437; and the Buckhorn Elks Lodge #2656 in Mesa, Paul was a Past Commander of American Legion Post 310; and Past Officer of UTC Racine #337.
Paul is survived by his lovely wife, Sharon; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sarto of Racine, Janice Mau in Hawaii, and Dianne Jung of Racine; nieces and nephews, Jim (Sharon) Leger, David (Cindi) Leger, Sandy Leger, Jani (Rick) Jacobson, Wendy Mau, Timothy (Renee) Jung, Thomas (Kathy) Jung, Todd Jung, Terri (John) Reichel, and Tammy (Mike) Hall; his former sister-in-law, Nancy Mueller; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Ronald Jung and Arthur Sarto.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will begin Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Memorials have been suggested to St. Lucy’s Church, or the American Cancer Society.
