Joseph H. Schust

     Joseph H. Schust, 74, passed away unexpectedly, in the emergency room of Wheaton Franciscan- All Saints, on Thursday, October 4, 2012. He was born in Rockland, MI on January 3, 1938 the son of the late Ernest and Catherine (nee: Wolfe) Schust.

     Joe served his country with the U.S. Army paratroopers and was stationed in Germany for most of his tour. On August 12, 1961, in Ontonagon, MI, Joe was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara Washburn. Joe had been employed by the Homestake Mining Co., the J.I. Case. Co., and retire from Vulcan Materials. Joe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a very talented handyman and kept their home in good order. No man had a greater love for family.

    Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara; their children,  Julie (Brian) Butturff, of Menominee Falls, WI, Dr. Danny (Linda) Schust, of Columbia, MO, and Wendy (Ernie) De Jesus, of Islip, NY; grandchildren, Morgan Strick, Evan De Jesus, Mitchell Butturff, Gabrielle, Alexander, and Hope Schust; brother, Ernest Schust; and sister-in-law, Donna Schust, both of Racine. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Allan Schust.

      A memorial service celebrating Joe’s life will be held in St Joseph Catholic Church, 1523 B. Erie St. on Monday, October 8th, at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will take place in the family plot of Woodlawn Cemetery, in Ontonagon at a later date. In memory of Joe, the family has suggested memorials to Hope House Children’s Home.
