George A. Brumsey

vet
Feb 11, 1932 – Oct 9, 2012

Racine – George A. Brumsey, 80, passed away at Kindred Kenosha-North on Tuesday October 9, 2012. He was born in Floydada, Texas on February 11, 1932, the son of the late Essie G. Brumsey and Roosie Jones.

George led an interesting and full life beginning as a teenager when he joined the US Army. He remained in the army for 27 years before retiring as a Master Sergeant. He then went on to a 25-year career as registered nurse, working at the Downey Veterans Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois. As a young man he was an avid boxer, and even fought against World Heavyweight Champion, Sonny Liston. George enjoyed playing softball and basketball, traveling, and loved to barbeque, but above all he was a family man every day of his life.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Sheila) Bostic of Racine, Shirley Brumsey of Dallas, Texas, Howard McRae of Milwaukee, Charles (Jackie) McRae and Jerry (Joy) McRae both of Detroit, Michigan, and Loretta (Doug) Hunter of St. Paul, Minnesota; grandson Michael Bostic II of Racine; sister Annie Nelson; and special niece, Nola Tennyson both of Dallas, Texas; as well as many other family members. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Vivian Bostic; and his brothers Percy, Melvin, George, and Andrew.

All are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 3pm – 5pm. Mr. Brumsey will be laid to rest with military honors at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Many thanks are extended to Dr. Joe Garretto, and the staff at Kindred Kenosha-North for your friendship, kindness and companionate care you provided for George.

Testimonials

November 13, 2019

The funeral service was just beautiful and very warming to everyone including my family. All the pictures they did and the employees were just fantastic. This is one funeral home I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to feel comfortable and to be treated like family. I can’t say enough good things because it was just such a warm welcome. Thank you to Mark and Mike. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.
