Joshua L. Nelson

vet
Dec 22, 1985 – Dec 6, 2012

Joshua L. Nelson, 26, passed away unexpectedly in Evansville, Indiana on December 6, 2012. He was born in Racine on December 22, 1985, the son of Richard Nelson and Lita (nee: Ayers) Bartel. Josh graduated from Park High School in 2004, and later served in the US Marine Corps.

Josh was a former employee of Cree Lighting (formerly Ruud Lighting), and was currently assisting with his uncle Bart’s trucking company. He was very athletic and enjoyed all sports, especially playing softball; and loved the Green Bay Packers. He relished in making others laugh, and was considered a “World Class Comedian” by his family. Most of all he was a doting and loving father to his 2-year old daughter, Giselle. Josh will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

Josh is survived by his daughter, Giselle Nelson; mother, Lita (Jeffrey) Bartel; father, Richard (Theresa) Nelson; sisters and brothers, Jessica Nelson, Zachary Centell, Jericka (Nick) Hooten, Alexandra Centell, Jacob and Angelina Nelson all of Racine. He is further survived by his uncle (and best friend) Bart Ayers of Racine; grandfather, James Nelson of Sturtevant; step-grandparents, Carol Wright of Arbor Vitae, and Gerald and Bonnie Bartel of Malone; as well as many other uncles and aunts, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Nelson, and Laurance and Doris Ayers.

The celebration of Josh’s life and funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM. Private committal services will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to help provide for his daughter Giselle’s education. An account has been opened at Educators Credit Union. Checks may be made out directly to Giselle Nelson.

Our deepest condolences are sent to you during this very trying time. Peace and strength as you grieve the loss of Josh. My most vivid memory of him comes from when he was just a boy happily dancing at Dianne and Steve’s wedding so many years ago.
    Love from us both.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him. Thank you also Mike for singing at her funeral, especially her favorite song, Amazing Grace. Thank you and all of your staff at Draeger-Langendorf.
