
Racine – Spero Stayanovich, Jr., 94, received the promise of eternal life on Saturday, December 15, 2012, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Milwaukee on August 27, 1918, but was raised in Racine, son of the late Spero and Mary (nee: Piksa) Stayanovich, Sr.
Spero was married to the love of his life, Jacqueline Jean (nee: Jensen) Stayanovich, on May 17, 1952, at Second Presbyterian Church. Jackie preceded him in death on August 15, 2002.
Spero proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Marines Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. After being honorably discharged, he was self employed as a cement contractor before joining Korndoerfer Construction Company, as a cement finisher. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. Spero also enjoyed playing golf. Above all, he treasured his family and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Spero leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Edward (Karen) Stayanovich of Racine, William Stayanovich of Racine, Lee (Bradley) Ludwigson of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Jason (Brianna Cash) Stayanovich of Washington D.C., Anna (Kevin) Gleason of Racine, Courtney (Daniel) Zuk, Mitchell Ludwigson, both of Aurora, CO; great-grandchildren, Alexander Gleason, Hylas Stayanovich; sisters, Mary Orlovsky of Racine, Rose Genunzio of Branson, MO; nieces, Rachel (John) Brown of Branson, MO, Mary Frances (Marcus) Andrews of Kenosha; and nephew, Tom Kalenofske. In addition to his parents and wife, Jackie, Spero is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 6pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm until the time of the service. Private burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery on December 19, 2012. Memorials have been suggested to a charity of your choice.
