MOUNT PLEASANT – Mr. Stanley W. Wielgat, 89, passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.

He was born in Racine on November 13, 1923, the son of the late John and Katrine (nee: Bonhard) Wielgat.  Mr. Wielgat served his nation with the U.S. Coast Guard for 4 years as a second class motor machinist, serving 13 months in the Alaskan Theater during WWII.  On October 3, 1953, he married Betty Klinkhammer.

Mr. Wielgat will be remembered by many as a loyal worker for Jacobson Manufacturing for almost 40 years and a devout member of St. Lucy Catholic Church.  Mr. Wielgat enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and gardening in his younger years.  Those that loved him will remember him as a dear father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

In addition to his loving wife Betty, he is survived by his sons, Doug Wielgat of Racine, Dan (Sheri) Wielgat of Antioch, IL; his grandchildren, Jesse (Jill) Wielgat, Casey Wielgat of Racine, Ben and Maddie Wielgat of Antioch; his great grandchildren, Noah and Luke; his sister, Bernice Kamin of Racine; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Wielgat was also preceded in death by his infant sister, Laurie and brothers, Walter and John (Helen) Wielgat.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Ave.) on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. for the celebration of his life and funeral Mass with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Military honors will follow the Mass.  There will be a visitation in the church on Monday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.  A private interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to a charity of one’s choice.   Please visit the funeral home’s website if you wish to send condolences to the family.

The Wielgat family wishes to thank Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for the loving and professional attention that was provided while Stanley was under their care.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Dear Gary, You and your staff are really special people. I and my family felt so blessed that all of the funeral arrangements were in your thorough and caring hands. One helpful meeting and then you took care of all the arrangements – and we knew we need not worry about one thing.
